This Soap Destroys Taliban

Heard something a couple of weeks back about Journalist Sarah Cheyes. She has a book out on the Afghan experience of the War On Terror. She has also, in a bid to help regenerate the area, set up a women's collective producing luxury soaps from local products.

Give the women some financial clout and you put in place mechanisms that help prevent the temptation of locals to resort to the growing of Opium poppies and the resurgence of the Taliban. I like the smell of that.

They retail in America and Canada but no outlets in the UK yet which is a pity.

[15/4/07: I realise belatedly that I could have titled this 'This Amandine kills Islamofascists'. Duuuuh]
